One wonders if there is a comparable period documentary on the "other" side of classic British cycling that I personally the most appealing: time trialing. Early Sunday mornings with the dawn mist still around the hedgerows, all black cycling kit and very often all-black lightweights (make mine a 1938 Rudge Aero Olympic or a 1939 Raleigh RRA please!), riding on the drops and on those really cool deep drop bends, too. Flat out, alone against the clock and some pretty impressive performances. And best of all, they managed it without those stupid looking streamlined helmets, too!
