Subject: [CR]Mafac Tool Question

Dan Kasha asked the question I've been wondering for a while about one of the tools in the 70's mafac tool kit. You can see one on ebay at The tool to the right, with the teeth. It looks mighty important, but I just can't see what it is going to do for a bike.

Fred Rednor was correct in his answer regarding this tool and also mentioned the poor quality of his own set.

Its not the first time I've heard this comment and would say I have owned one of Mafac's original chromed mild steel tool kits complete in its engraved tin box for many years.

Maybe their quality has dropped over the years because I have nothing but praise for these wonderful little tools. They were , I believe , not meant to be a daily workshop tool but only to use as an emergency tool kit to carry in pocket or saddlebag.
