I assume all this discussion applies only to the first CAMPAGNOLO brazeon FD. As with most bicycle bits, one would probably find that the very first was on some French constructeur bike in the 1930's.

Saying "the first year for.." is difficult because premiering at a big bike show versus being available for real production was two different things.
IIRC, I saw precursors to Campagnolo's production B.O. front derailleurs on Pinarello & other show bikes in 1978 & 79 at the New York Show. I have many photos (slides) from those shows that would be fun to do a seminar~talk with at Wayne Bingham's Cirque?
Richard Sachs would recall all this better than I, as he was actively showing his bikes then and was tight with Campagnolo; i.e., when they were actually shipping b.o. fronts.
Interestingly, Columbus SLX (steel) tubing w/spiral "reinforcements in butted ends, was preceeded by a spiral reinforced seat tube only.. This was to make it stronger in the area of brazing for the new brazed on front derailleur. But what was that reinforced seat tube called? Richard, Brian, Peter, etc?
