HI All,

It has been a while so I wanted to remind you that there will be an awesome Vintage Concours at Cougar Mountain Classic at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, July 7th & 8th.

We will feature the Brad Woehl Collection from American Cyclery in San Francisco. He will be presenting his fine collection of fat tire, mountain, road and unusual bikes dating back to the 1950's. Expect to see names like Legnano, Confente, Masi, Olmo, Cinelli, Coppis, Fisher, Specialized, Schwinn and others.

It is free to enter but $10 to park and send me an email if you want to showcase your bike. (that is free as well)

Thanks! Hannah

Hi folks:

I just updated the Cirque Schedule of events to include the menus for the Charity Auction buffet and the Seminars box lunches. Look here:

http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Events/Cirque/2007/schedule.htm

Also, with some recounting (!) I see that rather than being sold out, we

actually have two seats available at the Banquet... so first come first serve! Places are available for all the other events.

Here is the attendee count at this moment,

Charity auction & buffet dinner: 131 Seminars w/box lunch: 129 Banquet dinner & awards: 140 Swap Meet spaces: 43

IF you have already signed up, please check the Who's Coming page here:

http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Events/Cirque/2007/who-is-coming.htm

and make sure I have you: A. On the list! B. Correctly placed in the events that you signed up for.

If you see a goof, please let me know ASAP.

Finally, a few people have asked about the Greensboro Downtown Marriott hotel: http://marriott.com/hotels/travel/gsodt-greensboro-marriott-downtown/

It is a very nice facility and easy & safe bike riding distance from the Cirque activities. The only caveats are that it is ussually moderately expensive (although who knows what rates are available via the Internet, I just checked and rooms are available directly through Marriott for $109.95 nite) and they do charge for parking, which is unusual hereabouts and annoying.. But IF you can obtain a accepatable rtae, it would be an excellent place to visit & attend the Cirque...

Thanks and look forward to seeing you all in just a short time!

I would put this at 1957 or 1958 and it is the top model, not the Tour de France. I had a 1958 track bike with serial number 86007 and this is 85741. The track bike is very likely a 1958 because it had all the original equipment including the square cranks with the dust caps, the shorter pedal spindles etc that I suppose were only made in 1958.

By the way, the track bike, #86007 was stolen long ago in Washington Heights, Manhattan. The damn thing was all chrome with the blue panels and they ripped out my front door (great neighborhood at the time) to steal it.

I cryptically forgot to say that the track bike had the first generation Campagnolo Record track gruppo.

Hello Listmembers,

My name is Mike and I hail from the beautiful city of Austin, Texas. I've had an interest in older bikes since becoming a cyclist in 1990. My first couple of lightweight road machines were off-topic, USA mass-produced aluminum machines that were fantastic and responsive (if not a bit ungainly in appearance).

In 1991, I happened across a good deal on an early 80s Cinelli that opened my eyes to what a difference there was between a mass-produced, aluminum machine and a hand-made, classic Italian steel bike. I quickly fell in love with the beauty, history, ride quality, and responsiveness of the Cinelli and have been a convert to the lugged-steel religion ever since (with occasional forays into other areas).

I've owned an array of different lugged-steel European machines that have usually fallen into the later than 1983 cut-off for this list, but would have qualified for KOF status at least (w/later, off-topic components).

Today I have a few interesting bikes that fit into the CR category:

-late 50s/early 60s Olmo track bike (rumored to have belonged to Jack Disney), -late 70s Pogliaghi track bike (nice but not perfect original w/Campy pista group and Nisis), -1982 Cinelli SC (currently undergoing a restoration due to it being past the "patina" stage).

I also have a couple of Merckx MX Leaders (KOF?) from the mid 90s that are actual team bikes from the Motorola and Telekom teams, and a 1986 Pinarello Montello.

That's about it. This list and base of knowledge has been a tremendous help and I look forward to contributing as much as possible.

Best Regards,

Mike Spess Austin, Texas USA

Welcome to the CR list Mike!

And thanks for noticing and adapting to the correct CR sign off protocol! I KNEW it could be done! (Many newbies dork out and miss that part!)
