Well, my memory is a bit hazy, but back in the day when these were available on the surplus market, I somehow got the impression they at least weren't lighter than a standard roadster. Perhaps "heavy" wasn't the right term.

Also, from browsing the images on that site, it appears these bikes didn't have real pedals, but extendable spindles that one pedaled with the arches. That would be quite unnatural for an experienced cyclist and would certainly require army boots.
