I showed up at the Velodrome in Britain with track bike set up in a pretty standard way for American tracks, with double straps and bars taped only on the low part of the drops. That get-up got earned me derision that day, signs my Brit team-mates considered over-kill and posturing (but isn't everything bigger in America?). Next league night I showed up with a single strap and fully taped bar. They even nagged me till I removed my cog lock-ring.
