It does sound like it will add to the protection of rubber parts, but will it affect their function? Armor All also offers some protection, but it adds a surface finish in appearance and it "stickiness." The 303 stuff should be tested on treads and tactile parts like brake hoods, to make sure the wet and dry traction is not affected and that the feel of brake hoods is not made "odd."

Gabriel Romeu referenced the "303 Products" website:

Many Thanks for the tip, Gabriel. Looks very interesting!

Here is a quote about one of their products:

"303 Aerospace Protectant keeps UV-sensitive materials "like new year after year. Use on Rubber: Tires, neoprene, latex, door and trunk seals, weather-stripping, EPDM rubber roofs, CV boots, waders, wet suits. Vinyl: C onvertible tops (and the clear vinyl windows), isinglass, marine seating, tonneau covers, car bras, covers, spa covers, pool covers. Inflatable boats: Hypalo n, PVC and urethane blends. Gelcoat fiberglass: Boats, RV's, snowmobiles, jet ski' s. Plastics/acrylics/polycarbonates: LexanR and acrylic panels/windows/windshields/covers. Carbon-fiber/resin composites: Fishing ro ds, "nude" bike frames. Finished leather: Upholstery, motorcycle leather, trim, tack, fine apparel. Pool & Patio: Plastic furniture (not fabric), pool inflatables, slides, covers. Sailcloth: DacronR and monofilm."

I wonder what exactly they mean by " 'nude' bike frames..." ? Very interesting.

Above all, perhaps this would also be a suitable protectant for brake lever

hoods... or perhaps even hoping for such a product is just another quest fo r the Holy Grail of bike component preservatives.
