Ah, I didn´t think of that. Sorry.

So, basically, what happens is that on Sunday, July 8 there will be the

Retro Ronde, a gathering of people in min. 20 yr old cycling garb on min. 20 year old racing bikes ("Koersfietsen") in a place called Oudenaarde in Belgium. Oudenaarde is the place where there is the museum of the Tour of Flanders (which I have seen and which is really something).

BTW, the next town (more or less) is Roeselare which is the place where

there is the Belgian National Cycle Museum (been, great) where there will be a special exhibition on Flandria cycles (hope to go).

Anyway, back to the Retro Ronde. The Tour of Flanders Museum has established a programme of all sorts of music, retro stuff like a fake

30s Belgian pub which will serve as the office on the day, a veteran car run, and also a choice of either 35 or 65 km cycling routes with refreshments on the way. There are prizes for the nicest outfit as well

(first is 300 Euro´s worth of goods from the Museum shop). The whole

thing will cost 10 Euros per participant. They really have made the event into some sort of pageant, but as it´s the first issue, we´ll see what happens. My guess is that the organizers want to give Eroica some

sort of Northern counterpart.

I have heard of a number of European old racing steel collectors who are considering to attend. Anyway, I hope to be able to take part and I

think I´ll take my ca. 1939 Evans with Super Champignon. My son´s been given the Monday off school, so he´ll be able to ride his c. 1940 Sun

Manxman.
