Most of the red/black 70's Motobecane Grand Records I have seen, in fact ALL of them I have personally seen, had the French language "3 Tubes Renforces" 531 decal denoting they have 531 DB main tubes. They also had French 531 fork decals. As I've noted here a couple of times before, this is rather curious in that it means everything except the rear stays was 531. So why didn't they just make it all 531 DB, which would seem to have been a marketing advantage? No one seems to know for sure.
