OK, Bob & Brad have inspired me. Here's my set of the same ride:

To all:

More photos from the ride are linked below.

The ride attendees went something like this:

Jack Taylor - Marc Gitane - Eric Colnago - Charles Zeus - Brad

-- and then about a billion Bianchis, some of which had rear derailleurs that DID NOT EVEN HAVE PULLEYS.

To count the Bianchis, I look in the Magic Mirror and I see Nitro Bob, and I see Mike, and I see Dave, and I see James, and I see Guy, and Guy again...

It may not be generally known but there is a NorCal Bianchi cult -- I'm not sure about the location of the hive but it can't be far from here. Perhaps they well up out of the ground near the San Andreas Fault.

Although it was not the oldest, perhaps the most eye-catching one was brought out by Guy, I think it was held to be a racer from '48, is that right?

It has many interesting bits but for me the standout is the shift cable set-up. I have seen many shifters with cable stops, but here is a bike that makes the most of them. (

Another interesting bit is the strange and fascinating dimples in the bottom bracket. (

And then there was some question as to the proper hue for the chainstay, and sundry other, indents. (

Meanwhile, if you are reading this you must warn the others. I have avoided being assimilated by the Bianchi cult but I don't know how long I can hold out. Peter and Jan Johnson, Jim McCoin, Stevan Thomas -- already assimilated.

I could learn to love celeste.

Replaceable head races are really just a nuisance.

Donna Blanca -- dare I approach through the swirling mists?
