Simplex shifters can be quite confusing. I can't remember it all precisely, but there were at least two different post diameters and two fixing screw threads, one compatible with Campy and one not. So some Simplex clampons would not fit Campy brazeon bosses. Others would fit, but you needed fixing screws different from the ones that were used on the Simplex clamps.

I do recall converting two or three pairs of Simplex Retrofriction brazeons to clampon, as I always found the clampons harder to find. I seem to recall the brazeon levers, which fit Campy brazeons posts, would not fit a Retrofriction clampon post, nor a Criterium clampon post. But they would, oddly, fit the clampon post from the cheap plastic Prestige shifters. But the thread on the Prestige post was non-Campy and the Prestige bolts were to short for the thicker Retrofriction levers. So I found some stainlees steel socket head cap screws at the hardware store with a thread that worked.

Good Luck

But, for some reason they don't screw into my frame. I'm looking for something similar that are just intended to screw into frame braze ons.

I would like to trade or buy a pair of french threaded pedals. I have a pair of Zuess pedals from the 70's to trade. They are in good mechanical and cosmetic condition.
