Hi David,
I've been drifting away from it but I was doing a bit of dealing in machine tools for quite a few years. Recently, if I bought a lathe that had some kind of fatal flaw or a major component missing, it was almost a relief because I could part it out with a clear conscience. It is a win-win because I could buy it much cheaper and sell it for much more.
