Chris Kvale, he of the business card thin lug edges, does the bulk of the thinning with the lugs off the bike, but finishes after brazing. The gap between lug and tube varies slightly at different locations. His edges are so thin that this variation would be noticeable if the lugs were completely, and evenly, thinned before brazing.

The reasons why it takes him so long to build his simple looking frames require a bit of knowledge to appreciate.
