Bike sold for the price I expected. The pink colour meant it was basically considered a ladies bike, and I indeed received a surprising number of emails saying basically " I'm thinking seriously of buying this bike for my fiancee/wife/mistress". But I guess 2500 USD is a bit much to spend on the wife. Plus odds are she'd be much more pleased with a diamond ring to equivalent value, or a romantic holiday to Venice, Italy...

I don't know if the Japanese gentleman who bought it did so for himself or his girlfriend. I don't dare ask him in case he intends to ride it himself. I was actually quite surprised it went to Japan, the Japanese don't normally "believe" in the later bikes, maybe wrongly. Mike Kone and Jan Heine have pointed out the merits of the Lily bikes and their direct lineage with the Rene ones.

In my experience a ladies RH is worth less than half what you can get for the equivalent men's bike. Let's face it, this bike collecting business is very much a male pastime... It's like Rolex watches, the men's model is worth far more as a collectors piece.

When couples visit the collection here, a look of deep boredom gradually but inevitably installs itself on the face of Madame. Time for a visit to St Emilion while Monsieur has a really great time poring over more bicycles.

The Masi was pretty nice, the price it reached very high for a model that isn't that rare I believe, but the condition was amazing, and that logically makes a big difference to the price.
