Jon, By the late 70s there were "small" and "large" stirrup versions of both the Racer and the 2000 models. This really was just achieved by the substitution of a shallower yoke to which the right and left arms attached... and not much difference. Very different from the Weinmann 999 center-pulls which offered 610 or 750 models with different length arms. So, maybe just a weak concession by Mafac to accommodate racing frames which were beginning to appear more frequently with lower fork crowns and rear bridges.

Comparative heights from center mounting bolt to brake pads on the Mafac Racer and 2000:

small: 48.5 to 63 mm large: 53.5 to 68 mm

At that same time, both the 2000 and the "Competition" models were being offered in THREE different configurations, the third option being with an "adjustable" yoke ... meaning they had a vertical slot rather than just a circular central hole bored for the mounting bolt:

adjustable stirrup 2000: 55 to 75 mm. adjustable Competition: 50 to 65 mm

Jon Brownell asked: Were Racers or Dural Forge brakes available in short reach? If so, does anyone have a pair to sell or trade?
