Hi Scott,

Our listmaster, Dale Brown, who is in Florence at this very moment, on his way to L'Eroica, asked me to welcome you to the list, and convey to you his grateful recognition for your excellent introductory post.

You did everything right: you told us about yourself while keeping it on-topic; you showed that you read the list rules (this makes Dale particularly happy), correctly using terms like on topic and KOF, and understanding of the archives; and you signed-off perfectly, even including your country.

We don't see first-time posts like that every day! So congratulations, and again, welcome to the list.

My name is Scott Loveless and I live just across the river from Harrisburg, PA. A few months ago I bought a couple used bikes to replace a car destroyed by falling ice. My wife and I finally live within about 5 miles of everywhere we *need* to go on a regular basis and thought that cutting out a few expenses, and getting back into shape, was a good idea. What started as a purely practical solution has gone down hill fast.

Since building up the Schwinn (late '80s, and not on topic for this list) I've become interested in several rides with a "classic bike" theme, such as the 3 Speed Tour and L'eroica. Building a bike, or bikes, suitable for this type of gathering has become a bit of an obsession. I'd love to find an old Italian racing bike and restore it, but money and time dictate that something along those lines would be more of a KOF discussion around here. Building a new, classically inspired bike sounds like just as much fun, anyway, and I have a few crazy ideas for this one. The KOF concept is fairly clear, but I wouldn't mind if someone tossed around a few names of builders who meet the list's criteria for this sort of thing.

Other than that, I like to tinker. I regularly shoot with cameras older than I am, enjoy woodworking with hand tools, and like seeing old tractors in parades (my wife says I'm not allowed to have any tractors, so I have to be content with looking from a safe distance).

I've enjoyed the little bit of the archive that I've had time to read and look forward to lurking for a long time. Thanks for reading this. I hope I haven't overstepped.
