Cool bike!

I am 99% sure that that bike is not DeRosa made... I remember (having sold in my shop these in-the-day) that supposedly Moser set up his own frame shop early on. Most often famous-racer-brands have other builders do their work but we were told that freancesco set up his own Atelier right from the start. I vaguely remember he had an uncle or an older man who was the principal builder. There are almost no parallels between this frame and DeRosa, lug treatment, dropout joints, seat stay caps, etc. In fact, this frame has some neat details that set it a bit apart... That is better, in my opinion, than having it come out of a contractor's shop.

It could only be two tube sets: SL or SLX... You could tell if it is SLX immediately by taking the BB out and feeling up inside the chain stays to feel for the longitudinal internal ribs.... The SL decals are fairly easy to locate, the SLX are tougher...

Good luck and enjoy that machine! Thought some of you might enjoy seeing a "new" road bike I acquired last weekend: http://www.potterspix.com/biking/moser/

The original owner, Carlos Gonzales, was a racer in the 80's with the Detroit area Wolverine Club during Frankie Andreu's days with the club. Their parents supposedly bought them the exact same frameset in the same color/ same size and they apparently were often mistaken for the other.

I've also got the original Cinelli bar/ stem, Campy pedals & brake levers.

A friend of mine said that it's possibly made by De Rosa. Looking at other De Rosa's from that period there are quite a few similarities. Would anyone happen to know if this frame was indeed made by De Rosa?

Unfortunately the frame tubing decal is about completely gone, but there are enough remnants to see that it's Columbus; anyone know what type of tubing would have been used on these frames? Also, for the life of me I can find no serial number on the frame; perhaps it was on the Cinelli BB shell where they cut out the FM? Anyone know where else to look for a SN?

By the way, I have no interest in selling this, I'm just looking for information for my own reference. This will be my first real road bike for myself in about a dozen years, so I can hardly wait for dry roads again!
