Marcus,

Sorry for this non-answer but here's at least something:

If you find a source that confirms that the pista came with something other than what you were sent, don't assume that you were sent the wrong part. Pista notwithstanding, I know that the early SRs came with an alloy spacer that was dimensionally the same as the chromed steel spacer used on the Record. After some time they added the well-known, fancy SR spacer. I'm pretty sure the added spacer, with it's larger outside diameter, was intended to stabilize and space the wrenches (as well as serve it's normal CR list-contested functions) . We all know how delicate the finish on alloy headsets is, so maybe Campy got enough grumbling form the trenches that they tried to reduce the problem. Campy actually made a spring-steel clip that mounted to the headset to act as a spacer between the wrenches. I don't think it works if the special SR spacer is in place, so I guess the SR spacer was suposed to sort of eliminate the need for that tool.

Anyway, the point is that the Pista may have come both ways, with the fancy spacer added later. What say the catalogs ar Campyonly?

Hi All.

A very kind list member was able to connect me with a NOS Super Record Pista headset after I inquired a few weeks ago.

When I opened the package today, I found all the parts but I was confused by one thing and here's my question:

Does anyone recall if the SR Pista headset used the thicker aluminum spacer/washer (with PATENT CAMPAGNOLO engraving) as used in the SR Strada headset?

Or, did it come with a standard keyed washer without engraving?

Thanks for your input.
