Hey, fellow listers. I could use a little info about removing the pressed-in cartridge bearing BB on a late-70's Viscount frame that I am working on. The BB is shot; but the frame is in beautiful condition, so I don't want to just start pounding away at it! There is a groove & c-clip at one end of the spindle, and the bearings themselves appear to be pressed in to the shell, ala Klein & Fisher. Do I need any special (and undoubtedly unobtainable!) tools to do this, or can I do it Cro-Magnon style? Also, once the BB is removed, can I tap the shell to receive a normal BB? I have access to all the taps & cutters; I would just like to know if this is a can of worms before I get started. Also- I have reserved a booth at the Seattle Bike Swap, on Sunday, February 18th. All Seattle listers are encouraged to drop by to say 'Hello' to Bonnie & myself; we'll be at Booth 74. I would also appreciate tips from locals about the 'must-see' shops in the area, as we are coming to town on Saturday, the 17th, and would like to play tourist for a day. Thanks!
