I do remember that this thread started with a comment
thatthe frame had no insignias for tubing or model type. And
of course I recognize that the tubing decals frequently wear
away, although often there are some vestigial remains still on
the frame.
But to repeat my comments about the model type insignias:
On the Grand Jubile bikes I've actually handled, the model
designation was _painted_ on the top tube and very robust. I
make no claims that this was true for every Grand Jubilé ever
sold.
Frankly, I have a similar situation with my old Atala. Once
the insignias were removed (which I personally performed, ages
ago, in order to make the bike less alluring to thieves) you
really can't tell whether the frame is a Grand Prix, or
Competizione or even a Record.
That's what makes working on certain older bikes both
frustrating and fun.
