Scott, I'd like to know the same thing... the 2 knurled rings vs 3 and more of the 60's timeline from non-anodize to anodize. Anyone think these are the 1A alloy stems in the 1960 Olympics?

More questions: Was there a 2R w/ more drop than the 1R? Was there a deep-drop 3A stem?
The last generation of steel stems (in the '70s) came w/ a hex expander bolt, was it 6mm or 7mm?
What's the difference between model 63 and 66? They are both called Campione del Mondo, and the 63s are usually narrower. Anyone know when 42cm and 44cm widths appeared?
The VIP set was always the full deal w/ the suede-wrapped bars w/ stem, saddle, tubular pouch, and gloves - or were "incomplete" sets sold also? It seems these sets were broken up a lot, maybe by wholesalers and dealers?
I would love to have a couple jpeg images out of the early 80s Cinelli catalog - has anyone scanned the 2nd/3rd pages w/ the SC in front of the pile of bars, or the stems being made? Please send them my way if you have. Also I'd like a better picture of the VIP set, which could be from that catalog too.

Anyone know the timeline for alloy bars. Of course the single long grooved (at the bar/stem clamp area) was the latest. But, which came first, 2 sets of grooves or 3?
Anyone have an early non-anodized Cinelli bar to check the grooves?
