John J. is describing the Erisman Pacemeter. The cadence magnets had to be cemented into the back of your Campagnolo (not French or Sugino, but Campagnolo!) chainring bolts. There was also an item called the Pacer 2000 which was the first product to put the Veltec wholesaler on the map. The Pacer, to use a current analogy, was about the size of an iPod plus a Blackberry.
