There is a nice photo on Lloydies web site of him riding at Eccleston in his early days in the Kirkby CC (on a Harry Quinn). I would almost certainly have been riding although I don't recall any of the action he describes! The Eccleston handicaps were nice races but when the Kirkby CC showed up it was a nightmare. It was just a question of grovelling to hang on to a wheel. In one short local race I recall he cleared off on his own as soon as the flag was dropped and won by three minutes. Following his retirement Lloydy built frames and had a good reputation. I seem to recall that he used a single tube from the rear brake bridge to the seat lug. Very common now on carbon frames but pretty unusual in the eighties.
