Chuck's late 80's De Rosa has the same stay-to-dropout transitions as my mid-80's frame, and the pink frame appears to be an early 80's model, based on the SL decal. We'd have to see other early 80's frames to see if this was a poor period for De Rosa. But the question that jumped to my mind was whether De Rosa is known to have used subcontractors during the 80's. If so, that might explain the different dropout treatments.
