We have a winner. Congrats to Peter Tutty from down under, for correctly id'ing the disheartened rider as 2-Time TDF champ and Paris Roubaix winner Andre Leducq. He was a pro from 1927-39.

HISTORY OF THE Foto: Nazi-Approved Sculptor Arno Breker was inspired by the Leducq foto to create a nude statue of a muscular man in identical pose. Criticts said much of work was "homoerotic." Despite the Nazi party denouncing homosexuality, Breker was known as "Hitler's favorite sculptor" Here is a link to a Breker Bio page w/ foto of LeDucq and the sculpture: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Farno.breker.free.fr%2Fb1.htm&langpair=fr%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

Name the demoralized bloody crashed and burned rider in the foto. The crash caused him to quit the race. I think it was in the TDF, but it

is not stated in caption. Here's a hint: This pose later become the inspiration to a controversial sculpture by an artist with an "infamous" reputation. Here's the foto link: http://new.photos.yahoo.com/francopedia/photo/294928804163443833/0
