Wes and group: I have been down to one of those bike shops in Los Angeles - probably the same ones you are referring to. They had a huge party on the side of the building on the weekend that was bigger than most bike events I have seen. They had catered food and white top tents set up with all kinds of stuff. I looked around there and everyone was on track bikes, but me. People were pointing at my bike, ha. "Look, an uncool road bike". So I left. There were all sorts of track bikes hanging from the store ceiling and weird colored apparel and checkered (and other) tennis shoes on the walls. It's totally a different scene. To me is looked a lot like the music type with long hair, tattoos and just generally trying to be as counter culture as possible, sort of like the 'Burning Man' type. Email me if you want more info.
