Well it depends on how wide a range you are trying to use. SLJ will handle a lot wider range than a Campy NR. For example, I routinely use 52-38 chainrings and 13-28 FW with Simplex SLJ or even Criterium. Campy NR would choke on that for sure. But if you are trying to use a 52-42-28 and a 14-32 rear, you are going to need a long cage derailleur. There is a long cage version of the SLJ, although it is more common in slightly less expensive models. Campy Rally is a great long cage derailleur, too, IMHO the best RD Campy made in the classic era.

If the fact is it won't work, I will need to find a long cage rear. Any sug gestions?
