Regardless of what eBay might "tell" you, the reality is, you can end an auction at anytime you want (except is there are less than 12 hours to go, or, anytime if the item has yet to meet reserve).

Back in the "OLE" days, it was much more difficult to end an auction early, as a seller had to individually notify the high bidder(s) before an auction could be ended early.

eBay has increased their listing fees to compensate for 'Final Value Fees' which they may lose. Plus, these days they have so many "options" which you can choose for your listing, all of which raise the listing fee!!
