You guys are all calcifying. We went through this last year and before, too. It's quite simple. The main cut off date/equipment is 1983, which for mechanical purposes are click/index shifting and click in pedals. Items that were in production before and after the date are fine. Alloy frames were made in the 1900's through '30's, and then post war Alans, Vitus, etc.all qualify Threadless headsets, stems no unless they were made before '83, like the old steel stuff prewar. Kinda use your heads. If you get toe clips made in 1990 by Christophe or Ale, nobody will complain. Old Cyclo, Sturmey stuff with trigger lock shifters OK. How hard can this be? A little common sense goes a long way. If in douibt, ask. DA BOYZ will letchu know.
