Subject: [CR]Colnago pantographing and carving

Have been following this thread and find it interesting. There are several ideas about the time lines and which pantographed parts and styles went with a particular year. I have several thoughts on this subject and hopefully in the coming months many of those questions could be answered by someone who was there. Colnagos like many bikes that were imported into this country could be bought as a frame or a complete bike. This being said any variation of parts could have been put on the frame as new and keep in mind that frame might have sat there on the shelf for some time before it was sold. Also, this time period for Colnago was a great growth period and there were several if not many contractors building for Colnago. If any of you have been to Italy during that period and went into the some of the shops or the frame builders shops not all of them were neat and orderly and poor lighting seemed to be the norm for many of the frame builders shops that I went to. Some even had dirt floors. So what happens when one builder finds a set of lugs or a set of seat stay caps back in a far corner. They just might get used even though the style had been changed by that time. This I don't know for sure but it would make sense given the demand for Colnagos.

Now with contact from the new owner of Rauler and the information he passed on to me about reintroducing the Arabesque styled Rauler, and I really don't like saying that as the fancy lugged Rauler preceded the Arabesque and was the inspiration for that Colnago, but that is how Marco Beltrami the new owner of Rauler termed it. Reclus Gozzi will be building these frames and he is the brother of Raul Gozzi. Raul's specialty was pantographing and that was very evident in many of the Rauler frames. Raul worked for Colnago, I assume as a pantographer, for many years before he and his brother started Rauler with some help from Ernesto. Rauler did pantographing for Colnago and was one of their top contract builders. It is my hope that with Marco's help we just might be able to find the answers to many of the questions that arise regarding Colnago, pantographing and of course some time lines as well. I am not sure at this point if Raul Gozzi is still alive, but if he is he could shed a bright light on many of the questions we have regarding Colnago and pantographing. Of course I will post any and all information that will come my way.
