At the risk of beating a dead horse to...well, death, the archives were interesting but inconclusive regarding certain aspects of the Grand Jubilee. So, perhaps you Grand Jubilee owners can help me.

Got my first frenchie today, a Grand Jubilee with a wierd mixture of parts, some of which I won't mention (like the saddle, post, bars, levers and shifters) but some of which I am puzzled about.

According to what I read in the archives, only the first year (red and black) Grand Jubilee had Mafac racer brakes. Oddly, the front caliper on my bike is a Mafac Racer, but the rear, get this, is a Universal 61. All the trade mark Universal fittings are there; front and rear q.r. hanger housing stops, the model 61 straddle yokes, and the rear 61 brake. My question then is, which brake was stock with this bike? The mafacs or the uni's?

Did this bike come with 27 inch wheels? That's what is on it, 27 inch rims with normandy competition gold foil label hubs.

What would be the correct seat post diameter?

This frame has the silver paint with black nervex gold outlined lugs. What appears to be a clear coat is crazing and peeling off big time in quite a few spots, exposing the silver paint underneath. Is it possible to remove the remainder of the clear coat without damaging any of the pinstriping and lettering underneath? Should I just leave it?

Cranks are stronglight double (don't know model name or #) front der. is a Campy N.R., rear is not a campy, dropouts front and rear are eyeletted campy.

Can someone direct me to an original brochure for the Grand Jubilee so I know what it had as original components?

Thank you very much. Off list is fine too.
