This isn't at all unprecidented. In The Day, Windsor offerred essentially the same frame as the Windsor Pro, equipped with top quality Japanese stuff instead of the full Campy on the Pro. I think the bike was called the Windsor Competition, and IIRC, it was SunTour/Sugino, probably Cyclone, rather than Dura-Ace.
