It was interesting to see others take on books related to CR. I was at Borders last weekend and spyed the book reviewed by Pez Cycling news:

This is a stunning coffee table style book with lots of history and great photos.

Not just a stunning book, but "coffee table style book" suggests the established non-negotiable cut-off point for "classic":

Made before the birth year at which >50% of the birth cohort has a completely different idea, at age 21, pf what a "coffee table" is.

Following interviews with friends of my 20 year old daughter, I would push the year as no later than 1987. <smile>
