Hypothetical question:
I'm seeing a lot of "oops" posts where someone sends another email to the list with their proper signoff after forgetting to do so in a previous message. This makes even less sense when the Subject is changed, because unless someone is sitting on-line waiting for the posts to come in, they may not even associate the the correction with the original post unless they made a note of the offender's email address for future reference.
So the question is, is the addendum with the proper signoff counted as another post, or is it a freebee?
Personally, I find these "oops" posts annoying. I think I may have posted without the prescribed signoff a couple of times after I joined the list since I didn't read the rules because "I knew everything about mailing lists and didn't have to", but it would never have occurred to me to repost with a signoff after I found out. Frankly, if limiting people to three posts a day is intended to keep the list from bloating, these "oops" postings should also be discouraged. I'd rather see a daily rules reminder from Dale than 3 or 4 "oops" messages each day. The only time it makes sense is if the author seldom posts and would like to identify himself, in which case he should just resend his message with the proper signoff and "reposted with signoff" added to the Subject line.
