Hi all,

In my humble opinion, and as an eBay seller, I think it's the seller's responsibility to pack the part(s), or bike in this case, expecting the wor st during transit. I pack my parcels so they can be thrown across a room (w hich I never do) but being in the back room at a USPS I see that is exactly what they do with parcels. Couriers are even worse. There is always someon e else down the line to blame so they don't care. For your bike, was insurance purchased? If it was then the seller has t o file his claim and see that he squares up with you. Take lots of photos b efore adjusting anything. If insurance wasn't purchased I would politely ex plain the situation to the seller and let him know that if he had packed it better most if not all of the damage *may* not of occurred and ask him for a refund to the tune of 1/2 the price of a comparable derailleur. Your der ailleur may be rebuildable, myself and others on the list have stock of Cam pagnolo derailleur body parts to rebuild trashed and thrashed gears. That's best addressed with a "Wanted" posting when you know what direction this w ill take. For the eBay part - don't be too hasty with the feedback and give the seller a chance to resolve the situation. Also don't use negative feed back as a threat. The seller is more that aware that you have the last word and this is best dealt with in a friendly manor. Sometimes when transactio ns go wrong it's a learning experience for both parties involved. Having sa id that don't let him string you on for too long.

P.S. You can always make a fixed gear single speed out of it..... ;)
