Good day to you all, list members,
I thought I'd share this new addition to my collection. A G. Pintens, a Belgian bike, from 1977 (I'm guessing here, hubs are 77, but pedals are older and rear mech is younger!). Georges Pintens (born in 1946) was a Belgian pro from 1968 to 1976; he won stages in the TdF and the Vuelta, the Amstel Gold race, Liege-Bastogne-Liege and the Tour de Suisse among others. He must have started his own bikeshop somewhere along the line, in his town, Schelle, a bit soth of Antwerp, along the river Schelde. The bike bears his name, but the frame was probably built somewhere else. Finish is very good, lugs are filed. Tubing could be either Reynolds 531 or Columbus, the seatpost is a 27.2 mm. Since Georges Pintens is still in the phonebook, i think I'll give him a call soon, and try to find out some more about the bikes he sold under his own name.

Somehow I get a lot of pleasure from these finds, they have that 'underdog' appeal that a Colnago won't give me ...
