Subject: [CR]The Fixie Fad

Like all fads the current fixie craze has both good and bad aspects. The social issues are beyond the scope of this forum. At best, some of these riders will develop an appreciation of fine vintage steel bicycles and carry this love into the future, perpetuating our hobby. At worst, and I think this is the great fear of most CR members, important steel frames will be inadvertently butchered. All that can be reasonably done to prevent this, is to educate others about the bikes we love. Dale and others must be praised for the creation of CR and other avenues developed for the appreciation of vintage steel bikes. For this same reason, I have long advocated a more current and well publicised vintage steel bike value guide. People are not likely to destroy what they know has value.
