Hey, Gang-

Wow...I knew my little screed would liven things up, but I had absolutely no idea how it would ultimately benefit me personally!

As a direct result of my posting, Julian of Sag Harbor, has appointed me (ME!) Lord High Arbiter Of Who Gets To Ride Vintage Steel (you like me- you really, really LIKE me!). I intend to waste no time in fulfilling my official obligations; to wit:

It is hereby decreed that all list members and hangers-on will make immediate pilgrimmage to Portland, so that said supplicants might stand before me so as to be judged worthy, or unworthy, of their favorite vintage iron- those found to be 'unworthy' will be cast into the Lake of Fire, and the Lord High Arbiter (me!) will take posession of said vintage iron.

Those judged to be 'worthy', will be allowed to leave my Presence unscathed, but I still get to keep the vintage iron ( a guy could get used to this 'Lord High Whatever' stuff!). Failure to comply will result in an eternity spent riding a 1960 Schwinn 'Varsity' up the legendary 32% grade of Fargo Street in L.A. (kind of a Sisyphus-on-wheels scenario...)

And now for something Completely Different: I have a really sweet Colnago 'Super' frameset, that is too big for me (61cm, c2t, 58.5cm top tube). I am not a Colnago expertista, so I welcome any corrections or input. I believe it to be an early-70's model- no chrome; the only bz-ons are the gear cable guides, and the gear cable stop on the chainstay. Bright red, w/ yellow & black decals, long rear drop-outs, only one set of bottle bosses. Package includes NR headset, slotted shift levers (and mounting clamp), fluted & painted NR seatpost, Colnago pantograph large chainring, and a NIB pair of Colnago-stamped chamois riding gloves. The frame is in near-immaculate condition- a couple of barely visible paint blems, and some wheel insertion/removal marks on the drop outs. All decals are intact, no rust or other issues. I will have pics up tomorrow night on my Flickr page. I am asking $825 shipped (lower 48), paypal preferred.

I have approached my employer about the possibility of hosting a beer/pizza get-together for CR members who make it to Portland for February's North American Handbuilt Bike Show, and it is an enthusiastic GO! Said baccahanal will take place @ The Recyclery; details to follow. Please let me know if you are interested, so that we can plan appropriately.

Peace to all, Larry Myers Portland, OR, USA

PS- even Julian is welcome!
