I'm recalling that Bob Pfarr had installed ear protectors on his helmet
straps.
The clips on John Milkent's seat tube were part of the removable water
bottle holder. Guys went training on long rides and took water along.
Remember, all you fixated newbies, that years ago when bike riders were real
men they trained and rode on their track bikes, fixed gear, no brakes, and
liked it!
Of course it was easier dodging stagecoaches and horse drawn streetcars.
The large hoopskirts were another story.
Luckily the keystone cops weren't fast enuf to catch the scorcher after an
unfortuneate madamoiselle was embarrassed (watch your pronunciation here) by
an errant handlebar.
Some of the riders used these polo type helmets, some even used football
helmets. Hard shells, and judges allowed it.
And please remember:
IT'S NOT A FIX(IE)!!&%$#@
IT"S a fixed wheel, fixed hub, track bike, a single.
Please respect the genre and use the correct title for the machine.
Remember who you are, where you come from, what you do and represent in the
bicycle world.
Educate the youngun's, bring them into the fold, elevate their level of
expertise so they come up to OUR STANDARD.
I'M NOT GOING DOWN TO THEIRS!!
PERIOD!!
