That seems like a real possibilty, Don. The only comment I would have is that the "chicken-feet" patterns don't seem to be placed random enough.

Some listers have suggested buffalo leather but I don't think it's that since the texture and pattern is very different. For reference, here's another photo with 3 saddles. From the left, Unicanitor Pakistani buffalo leather, Unicanitor buffalo leather, and 3TTT mystery:
