The fact that the seller is asking people to contact him outside of eBay should be a HUGE red flag. It looks to me like the seller's account has been hacked. Scammers know it's harder to fool people with an account that has little or no feedback. So they find one with good feedback and a weak password. Look at what else he's flogging. Wade past all the Buy It Now shoes and around page 4 you'll see a Segway, computers, stereo equipment, more bikes -- all with the same instructions for buying it outside of eBay and all unit priced at $1480, just like the Alex Singer.
