Well, it seems that that pigskin leather saddle was once a seal judging by the catalogue scans. I have a whole load of old Italian saddles I use as ashtrays because no way am I riding any leather coated plastic, so I hosed off the ashtray and it's market Cinelli Unicanitor on the plastic, and the leather on top of the thing I can't even guess what animal it's from. Luckily, CR exists, so if anybody cares to visit http://membres.lycos.fr/partspeekers/ and click on the bottom link left of page they get a world exclusive on a exquisite item.

You can also get direct to a pic at http://membres.lycos.fr/partspeekers/hpbimg/cinelli1.jpg. Now if anybody can hazard an educated guess at what animal that leather came from, and more importantly from what part of the animal, I'd be grateful indeed.

I considered this leather plastic pig seal thing carefully, and I designed a prototype animal friendly saddle here http://membres.lycos.fr/partspeekers/hpbimg/saddlegreen2.jpg and if anybody would like to envisage a busines partnership with me on this, please write me.
