Ok, I raised this in my posting of last night, but I am curious about what people are doing in order to fit a water bottle to a 40s-50s period ride. Coloral and other handl-bar mounted cages seem to be scarce and the bottles even rarer (although I will admit that there were a few up last week on ebay). I am also not sure about the safety of using a 50-60 year old bottle.
Has anyone had a go at making a reproduction bottle cage? From what I have seen they don't look overly complicated. One could then use a more modern (but still appropriate looking) stainless bottle. I also gather that the problem with fitting a new bottle in an old cage is one of diameter!
