I've never seen this eccentric reduction design used on a crankset, and given as there's only one reduction ratio (it wouldn't appear to work as direct drive giving a 2nd ratio because of that eccentricity), what's the point? Can't some smaller rings be sourced to give the same effect?
Looks like an engineering (bearings) and maintenance (shielding) nightmare as well.
And I thought those Stronglight needle-bearing bb's were bad!
One thing this might accomplish is having the macho look of hulking chainrings while giving back some gain at the hidden(?) eccentric mech.
