The simplex end is usu found on zinc coated derailluer cables. If your LBS has a 'universal derailluer cable and housing' usu unlined, one end is a barrel, the other is a little smaller for simplex shifters. Pyramid, Summit, Ultracycle are the brands that you should find them in. They are not high end by any means, and you might have to go to the recycle a bike type shop or old school lawnmower/bike shop to find them.

Does anyone have a source for the derailleur cables with smaller ends for simplex shifters?

Till now I have been filing down the standard ends, but now that more and more of my bikes seem to have simplex on them, it would be nice to be able to just grab a cable as needed.
