There was an amusing thread on the Randon email list awhile ago where a handful of Rohloff owners were comparing the improvements in shifting performance of their hubs over time to the aging of fine wines in the metaphorical cellar of rainy brevets and snowy commutes.

My off-topic road bike is red, white, and blue. The red makes it fast, but it has enough blue to still be vertically compliant for comfort. The white makes it lighter, and the slope of the lettering on the decals gives it better acceleration. The curve of the color scheme improves cornering performance.
The aero spokes are really just for looks....
