I'm not a fast descender, but the Raleigh does indeed feel 'light' in the front. Very responsive. Flat, 15mph turns feel super... faster, descending turns get a bit more exciting.

1969 was the first raleigh pro-but I do think some of the similarities of the older models were still carried onwards. Probably explains the top tube cable routing. Fork crowns of course were different than the next year's Pros - so maybe they were a hold over. And someone else mentioned off list - perhaps even the geometry on the 1969 offered a bit more relaxed ride ??

In many ways the 1969 White, first shot of the Pro's was likely a 'transitionairy' model.
