Gidday from New Zealand again.

What is a suitable size tire to use on 27x 1 1/4 Dunlop Special Lightweight rims for my late 50 Frejus?

I am having a bit of trouble finding a decent 27x 1 1/4 locally, the shops I have tried so far only stock the Continental Ultra Sport in 27x 1 1/8, and really cheap and nasty 27 1/4 tires.

Would a 27x 1 1/8 be okay, or is it too narrow for non hook-edge rims? The rims are about 23mm outside, 16mm inside width.
