I can only see doing the rear wheel Roval-style, with each two DS spokes punctuated by a single, radially-laced NDS spoke.

The front wheel will have to be radial, lest you impart torque across the hub's barrel, since half of 30 is an odd number (unless your hub had three flanges like one current model).

The only variation of this that I can envision would be to group the spokes in threes at the rim, modern-Campagnolo-style, but all of the above still holds and I'm assuming your 30H rims aren't drilled this way.

Weirdness, indeed. I hesitate to (won't) build wheels using radial lacing, having seen too many of these self-destruct at the flange while sitting in a closet in storage. Thank god those ones came apart while not in use!
