That, the first bikes being badged La Freccia, corresponds to the Colnago book by Sergio Meda.

And speaking of holy grails: according to the book the first foreign purchaser, "let's say it was 1960" Meda writes, was purchased by a university professor from Berkeley. He was over 6 feet tall, and "Colnago remembers him not so much because he was the first but because he took size thirteen shoes." Who might that have been?

snip: Just to clarify my earlier post on the subject, I am told (I have not verified myself) that the original colnago road and track bikes in the 50s were badged "la Freccia" (the arrow)...
